We have a limited time offer available where you can get phpLD essentially free, and get hosting for 6 months and a free domain to boot! Here is how it works...
(only one per customer)
You must follow the above link and purchase hosting. The main stipulation is you must not have purchased hosting from this company previously. You will need to purchase at least 6 months of hosting which costs $36, but if you stay with host for 90 days, we will send you a rebate of $36. Also, as soon as we get word that you have purchased hosting, we will install phpLD on the hosting for you, and assign you a free license.
So you pay $36 today, and we install phpLD, give you a free license, and send you a rebate back for the hosting after 90 days. And by the way, the host gives you a free domain which is transferrable. I'm told that if you leave before one year, they do ask you to pay for the domain, but otherwise it is free.
After you get done with the hosting purchase, kindly drop into our forum or create a support ticket and we will assist you from there.
You can even choose to have another release installed. Classifieds, Video or even the Article version.
the phpLD Team

Below is a video detailing the features, and showing the responsive design in action, including Facebook-style Pop Out Menu, and more! If you are good at finding entertaining videos, then you’ll be great at driving traffic your new video site by telling your friends or positng in groups on Facebook or other social media.
We are happy to release phpLD Local on Easter 2014! Take a look at the video and release notes below!
Improved Google Maps Widget – it is full screen and responsive
Maps Icons – We make use of an open source icon set so you can choose from a variety of icons for each listing that appears on the maps.
Places – There is a new menu item in the admin called places as well as a widget that displays those places. For each place you can set the map focal point, and the zoom level. And for each business listing you can assign it to a place.
New Ad Widget – Working in conjunction with the media manager, you can upload images from your computer or upload them from a URL. The Ad widget displays 125 by 125 ads that are set to No Follow, which is often considered a good practice for any link that is site wide.
Responsive – You will mind many of the elements in the design are responsive so phpLD local will play well on nearly any display size or device.
Color Selection - You can change the color theme to any color you like through admin.
The Fine Print - You must have a phpLD license to use phpLD Local for each instance of phpLD as per our terms of service. Beyond that there is no additional charge. It is currently considered in Beta, so this means free support is very limited. You are most welcome to post any questions or concerns in our forums. Enjoy!
Ricky's Templates has just released a new Responsive template for phpLD. It is a premium template and at the time of this writing sells for $25. What's great about this template is it automatically resizes and rearranges page elements so it will look good on PCs, laptops, tablets and phones. Check it out!
What makes Directory Journal a great example of phpLD is the organization, depth of the resources, social footprint, and dedication to quality content for several years.
First, upon arriving on the homepage there are clear links that take you to different places in the site. There is a map that let’s drill down to geo specific data, as well as the traditional top level category drill down. Then as you scroll down on the page, there are more interesting items that a user might click on such as the site of the day, and latest links organized with tabs. Then there is certain “authenticity” added as you look at the footer where they list some of their clients.
In the area of Social there are simple links for Liking the page on Facebook or adding a Google “plus”. Then you will see that they have thousands that have liked their Facebook page.
And then you can’t say that this is just a “link directory” but their articles section has 34 pages of articles spanning 7 years with content added on a regular basis. This makes it easier for search engines to see they are not just adding links, but also quality content, and likely they also have a following by a strong user base that reads the latest articles, and maybe are reminded to read in the Facebook page.
This is surely just scratching the surface, but in today’s environment, you need more than just a “link directory”. You need a focus on quality and organization, with a plan to add content and grow socially over time! Check out Directory Journal today, and hopefully you too will be inspired to improve your directory with a plan that will span the test of time.
