Some questions...

Dear php-ld-team!

I have a few questions concerning php-ld:

1.
Is it possible to add more custom fields for every link?
For example "date of birth", "name of my cat" or "type of my car".

2.
Do you have an advanced search, which can be set up to search the custom fields?
For example "show all listings where the "name of my cat" is kitty and...

3.
Is php-ld able to order the categories like the admin wants it?

4. Is there a (mass)-e-mail-possibility to reach the registered customers?

The short answer is yes, but most of the items you describe will require further modification, and some will require a good deal of work.

With further modification you mean modification, witch must be done after every bigger update, right? Doing a modification one time is ok, but doing this after every update can get unconfortable.
Question 1 and 3 are the most important ones. Are they accessible with modification or in the normal php-ld?

With witch version of php does phpld run? (php4.x and/or php5.x)
Do I need php_mod (module) or is php as cgi ok?
Do you have a script, which checks the server, if he is compatible with the script?

I recommend hostgator.com or site5.com as good host choices.
php4 or 5 should be okay.
running as cgi is usually okay too.

And honestly, these modifications you request will require several hours of work from a qualified programmer. We can help, but it may require some additional funds on your part. It is possible some of these items might be in a future phpLD release, but no guarantees.

I have no problem to pay for customizing. Good work must be paid.

I made bad experences with customizing. I have a directory and some nice people customized a bit for me and after the next update the whole directory crashed, although they tod me it was compatible. And to customize after every update again is not economic. Now I look for a new directory...

It makes only sense, if the customization will be included in the next Version.
I know that you can't put every hack in the next version, but the software enhances dramatically with very useful hack, what is included.

I will think about it.

Ok, thanks for your reply.
Advanced search is especially something we plan to offer in the near future. Custom fields are already pretty easy to add. #3 is probably the most difficult, and #4 we prefer not to release publicly because of spam implications, but could do as a custom job without too much effort.

OK, if it will be get worse with my current directory-script, I will come back to php-ld.
