TLA and PHPLD

Is there a trick to getting text link ads to work on phpld? I followed the instructions exactly but I get an error message, like it is not recognising the php code. I am adding the TLA code in my footer.tpl file. Any ideas? Should I post the error message?

Between this thread and the other TLA thread, I got the script up. Then I recieved an email from TLA saying that they detected my script up, and I should see a sample text link, but I dont see anything.

I sent an email to TLA asking whats wrong, but I have a feeling it might be a while before I hear back from them. In the mean time, has anyone else had this problem or know why it is happening?
