Help with categories and links moving

I am running 2 directories using PHPLD 2.0 and 1 using PHPLD 3.0 all using the Peppermint template. I all of a sudden am having problems when I tried to add a new sub-category under a shopping category almost all of my links moved from their proper places to different sections (so for instance everything associated with Real Estate is now under the Directories section and everything in the Directories section is now in the Arts and Crafts section). Also whenever I go to fix a category or sub-category another one disappears. This is driving me CRAZY and am willing to pay someone to help me fix the directories.

just to make sure i understand this? Did you just take one database and basically place it into another one? Or are you using the same database to run both directories, i'm not sure if you can do this.

if so the problem for both more than likely is because the number associated with the categories would be different for each database/directory (unless you added each category in the same way...ie alphabetical)...i hope that made since
ok say the very first category you created on version 2 was auto so this would be number 1 but on version 3 your auto category was the 3rd category that you created so it would be number 3....

now how to solve this problem...sorry, that i don't really know, since you said you've tried to do it but they're disappearing...but at least i hope i helped you to understand why maybe it happened...

in short your seq count appears to be off
