Error 500 when attempting to install - v. 2.1

Thanks for reading.

I'm trying to install, and uploaded the files to my server, and changed the permissions as required in the installation instructions, but continue to get Error 500:

Server error!

The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your request. Either the server is overloaded or there was an error in a CGI script.
If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster (%5bno%20address%20given%5d).
Error 500


Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

couple of things rename the htaccess and see if the error is gone.
If not lower the temp/* to 755 chmod and the include/configure.php to 755

which one? if its htaccess then comment out the Options line that usually is the problem
