Best of 5 of each category on front page

Do u know how to get:
Best of 5 short-list of each category on front page displayed under every main category titel?

Like this example for category A:

Category A
Subcat. Aa Subcat. Ab Subcat Ac
-domain1.com
-domain2.com
-domain3.com
-domain4.com
-domain5.com

This would add a few more db queries to the database, but it might be possible.

I see in index.php this section of code which displays the lastest links:

Content visible to registered users only.

Then in main.tpl, there is this section of code:
Content visible to registered users only.

It's going to take some careful study of the above code. Hopefully, someone here will have the time to work on this for you.

Content visible to registered users only.It's definitely possible with some cacheing and it wouldn't be that database intensive.

It wouldn't be taxing on the db at all. simplistic calls.

This would put more then 100 links on front page and that is against Google's TOS please read the webmaster guidelines on google' page. I would not do that if i were in your place.
