What's the deal with the link review table? What goes in there?

If you have enabled useraccounts, your registered users can edit/review their links and all these reviews are store in the PLD_LINK_REVIEW table until they are moderated by an admin/moderator.

And another question: why is there an "Approve Categories" section in the Admin panel, if there is no way of suggesting a category (at least, none that I know of)

There is a mod for this. Look around on the forums. I think vsdan has a mod, but I don't believe this is pre-loaded with phpLD.

It's not pre-loaded but even in the 2.0 and 2.1 there was in the admin section approve categories in the menu but it doesn't do anything...

As david said VSDan does have a mod for this, he has several great mods all for a flat fee of $10 for lifetime (including upgrades and new mods released)...a must have for directory owners :D
