Hi again.
I'm not sure where the bugs need to be reported.
so, in templates/admin/dir_categs_edit.tpl look for
Category saved.
and replace it with
{if $symbolic eq 1}Symbolic c{/if}{if $symbolic ne 1}C{/if}ategory saved.
(or if there is an else possibility to that double if, better (again, I'm almost 0 at php ;) )
now, the issue: pagerank at all sites is showing N/A. I've seen a lot of mods and discussions on the problem. What I don't understand is that why the latest release is not working correctly. Why doesn't it have the latest fix for this pagerank thingie, or at least some readme (known issues, etc) in the "kit" so that the user will know at isntallation what extra stuff needs to be done.
So, what is the latest thing that needs to be done in order to make pagerank show up correctly? Also, is there a solution that will make it work correctly without expireing? (I'm a dev guy, in webmastering and related I'm also close to 0 :) so if the answer is obvious, sorry for not seeing it)

There is nothing wrong with phpLD with regard to pagerank. The reason many people can't get it is because their server is blocked by google, which is something out of our control. Here is the solution:

Thanks for telling us about the bug. I'll see if we can get a programmer to take a look and get it fixed if determined to be a bug.

I read through that thread. it only looks to me as a tool to set/update the page rank of existing links from the directory. my questions are:
- if my ip is blocked by google so phpld cannot get teh pagerank, how come that utility still can get the pagerank? afterall, doesn't it also get on the internet with my ip?
- can I get my ip whitelisted somehow? (I'm still googleing on this, but maybe someone knows more and will rpovide an answer faster)
- supposingly I get my ip whitelisted, do I need to run the tool mentioned by you or will phpld automatically update the pagerank at some interval? also, will I have to reguallry run the mentioned tool or again will phpld update the pagerangk at some interval?
thanks
- do I have to regula

Content visible to registered users only.
well .. they aren't different :) they are 2 different machines, but they are on the same private network and teh server is "giving" inet access to my machine. basically, I am hosting my own server :D
Content visible to registered users only.
I'm a little lost here: why does google block server ip and allow other ip's? how does google know that an ip address is a server ip or not?
do you know any official documents or alike from them on this matter?
also, since a client ip is not blocked, wouldn't it make sense to create a server application run on a client ip to which people can connect and get the pagerank? (I am still confused on what is the difference between a server ip and a client ip from this google blocking point of view)

one more "weird" addition.
so, my machine and teh server machine both have the same external IP address (my machine is NATed through my server). the phpld does not get the page rank. otehr software (like a widget on my opera browser for getting pagerank) does get the correct page rank.
so ... is this really a host blocked issue?

Content visible to registered users only.
Google blocks abusers of checking the datacenters' pagerank. Servers that check it too often. This is for a very good reason: If everyone in the world, at the very same time, updated their 5000 link directory, Google would more than likely crash (I could be wrong) but lots of bandwidth nonetheless.

still around :)
so ... since both the server and my machine get the PR via the same IP, is it possible that maybe the get PR funciton from phpld not working right? maybe using some page/site that is indeed blocked for some IPs? or maybe the get pr function uses something that is not working on my setup? are there any detailed/debug logs I can enable to track this down?

just an update on this, in case anybody is reading: with the new pagerank.php from 2.1.2, pagerank is working fine.
