My question is Search Engines and PHP Link Directory....and is this directory search engine friendly? from a quick analysis online it seems that the directory does not get indexed very well but maybe I made some errors... just need some information and input about this....

Did you turn the SE friendly urls on in the admin panel?
IMHO I think it gets indexed pretty well... for example are blogtrap, axeq and addurl-free dot coms...

In the admin panel... System > Edit Settings > Directory
Enable URL rewrite (set to yes)

hey,
I'm a new user as well and when I turn on Enable URL rewrite I'm not getting the right results. Meaning the links form the main directory change but the links are 404's. I asked my host if they could turn on a mod rewrite but they *the tech) said that I would have to do it through htaccess. Any thoughts about this?

htaccess is part of the zip file you downloaded.
Can you verify that it exists on your server?
