Order of category titles on the front page

Can this be changed around? On my new site www.2searchsports.com I want the non-sports related category titles to be grouped together and then underneath them to have the sports related category titles together.

Can it be done?

I suppose so.

You could modify the DB, give the Cats an extra field and have in it a 1 for example for the sports.

Then for the front page, have two queries where one would be loaded into the left column and it be all none sports whereis the right would be for all the Cats that have a 1, meaning they are only sport categories.

That would work.

I was hoping for a top / bottom load. Otherwise the columns would be very lopsided, just a few general category titles and lots of sports. Could it be done with three colums? First column general and next two for sports? How complicated is it? Where do I start?
