Hello,

I am trying to submit my link to a directory who are asking me to include their link prior to submitting mine. Where on earth do I/how do I place it??

<a href="http://d4y.us/">Directory of Directories</a>

Cheers,

Kazba

In /templates/submit.tpl or /templates/YOUR-TPL/submit.tpl it's added usually.

If you're running one of the latest v3 versions:
Content visible to registered users only.

You can "hardcode" the URL too:
Content visible to registered users only.

Thanks for that Bobby. should I be able to see the link on my page at all. I entered the text as you showed in submit.tpl but can not see it on my home page or anywhere else.

Thanks again,

Kazba

Thanks for that Bobby. should I be able to see the link on my home page at all. I entered the text as you showed in submit.tpl but can not see it on my home page but in the submit page still in the text form. <a href="http://d4y.us/">Directory of Directories</a>

It appears to me to be in the wrong place. http://internetpageguide.com/submit.php

Please advise,

Do you want it somewhere else? On all pages?
Try:
Content visible to registered users only.

ok i think maybe boby read that wrong...they don't want to put the text box for people to add a recip link to them....they want to know how to add that person's recip link to their own site

to manually add listings to your own directory
for version's 2 not sure on version's 3
log into your admin section click on the Directory tab then click on links
top left corner click on New links....put the sites information there

Yes Shadav...that is exactly what I mean. I can see the position you are talking about except I have noticed that when other people request a recip. link first prior to me submitting my link on their site, they do not provide all the information required for that form. All they give me is a code such as this one. href="http://d4y.us/">Directory of Directories</a>

*Title:
*URL:
Description:
Limit:
Owner Name:
Owner Email:
*Category:
*Featured:
*NoFollow:
*Require Reciprocal Link:
Reciprocal Link URL:
*Status:
Link Expires:
Hits:

thanks in advance....I'm still not quite there with this.

Ok, take a look at the /templates/ folder. Add the code to one of the files. Maybe footer.tpl or main.tpl... or anywhere else you want it to show up.

Content visible to registered users only.

So the title would be Directory of Directories
URL = http://d4y.us/
Description: well that part sometimes is tricky, I usually try to look on their main page, index page to find a description if not well improvise lol and given the title i'd say they are a Directory of directories....
Owner name isn't required but if you know maybe their forum name here i usually use that
Owner email: i tend to use admin@THEIR DOMAIN so in this instance admin@d4y.us

Category...wherever you want to place it in your directory
Featured & No Follow...that's up to you
reciprocal link they wouldn't have yet
status should be approved
link expires is up to you

the only parts that you really need to fill in in the admin part those is the site's title, description and url...and set it to approved....all other info is optional

Awesome...thanks for that shadav. I had no idea what to do with it. It would be better, I thought, if the details were all there for us to include a good accurate description of their website. Never mind....at least I know now what to do.

Thanks again,

Kazba

Hello...I was not sure if I were to set up another thread but decided to use this one so I hope someone can help.

I am very technically challenged with getting my directory going. It is taking so long to submit to other directories and when I have to do a recipicol, it takes for ever. The recipicol links come back as not found on my page. I enter the details in the required boxes and put the (example) href="http://d4y.us/">Directory of Directories</a> in the description box. I have tried entering it in the url box but both places come back with "can not find recip. on page" or similar response.

Please advise...this is getting very frustrating as I am sure there is an easier way.

unfortunately that is kind of a slight problem with the script the recip link validator is a bit buggy

however if you feel to trust me, you can pm me a link to your site with your admin info and when i get back in a few hours from work i'll double check the info to make sure the links were added correctly, i'm sure they are though....

I don't use the validation anymore because really out of all the sites that I do have recip links with it's only ever been able to find a handful of them....
