404 error when clicking on a category

I keep getting a 404 error when I try to access any of the categories that I created.

I have rebuilt the category cache and that had no effect. All of the paths show properly in the browser and I do not have everything under a subdirectory, so there was no need for me to alter the .htaccess file.

I have looked here and seen other people with similar issues, but never an explanation of how to fix it.

Could someone help me, please?

Yes, David.

I did find a way to solve it. :)

It was a mod_rewrite issue. I input the appropriate code in the .htaccess file and all is now perfect. :D
