Hey everyone!

I am also really new to this stuff and for some reason i can't get this script to install!!!. Im using 818hosting.com and they have mysql and php installed and i have setup my phpbb2 forum and it works fine. When i tried to install this script, i get past the first screen with these requirements.

Requirements
PHP Version >= 4.1 (4.3.11)
Server API (apache)
GD Support (for visual confirmations) (2.0)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After i hit next, i enter my information for my new database i created in mysql control panel into the database settings ............

Database Type Mysql
Database Server*
username minilinks
password ******
Database Name minilinks

and it returns this error?

An error occured while connecting to the database. Please check your database username and password.

If you require help with your database server settings, please consult your hosting company.

The database server returned the following message:

Access denied for user 'minilinks '@'domain' (using password: YES)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is the email i recieved back from my hosting company saying everything was created...

Database setup complete

Trying making your database server
localhost
That is likely the problem

didn't like that ..... gave me this error
An error occured while connecting to the database. Please check your database username and password.

If you require help with your database server settings, please consult your hosting company.

The database server returned the following message:

Access denied for user 'minilinks '@'localhost' (using password: YES)

i also tried the ip address they gave me for my site and that didn't work. The funny thing is i got the the phpbb forum running by typing in the same info localhost, database name (different one), password etc....and it works good... so far.... but this one has got me scratching my head... I wonder if there is a permission in one of the directories throwing it off? i chmod the config file and the folders like the instructions said?

Please make note, this is NOT in any way against bobby9101, but giving your CPanel access to someone who isn't staff is dangerous and we cannot be held responsible for any loss of data, nor server problems.

Now, onto the problem.

Is the User you created being reflected in CPanel as the right user for the DB?

Let me know, and if you don't know what I'm talking about feel free to PM me.

point well taken
are you sure that you created a database? here is what I would do.

Log Into Cpanel by going to http://www.minidecisions.com/cpanel
Go to MySQL databases
Make sure there is a user "minilinks"
A database "minilinks"
User "minilinks" is added to database "minilinks"

Post results
I will go from there
