I was searching the forum for my problem, but i did not find a solution.
I installed the script without problems, but i cannot login to adminarea.
I tried different browsers and even different PCs. I was deleting cookies and cache, but it dosnt work.
I also was controlling my username and password in my phpmyadmin.
A month ago i was installing the old script on the same server and it worked fine....
Now i dont know what to do....
Can anybody help?

So you checked and verified that you're using the correct User/Pass?
If so, have you checked your server error log?

Hmm, try turning on error reporting for the directory and see what type of errors it may give.

Hi!
I'm also facing the same problem in a different situation. I get an invalid user name or password return after I key in the right username and password.
And like abdallah I also have control of change the username and password via phpmyadmin and still got the same problem.
I have also check the error log and found nothing.
This problem just started to happened a few days ago. Before that I have no problem accessing the admin site. And I was happily inserting links after links.
I asked my service provider if there were any upgrade or maintainences done on the server. They just said that they upgraded to php5 on the 4 January 2006.
Does that have any effect on phpLD? Any help will be very much appreciate.

Hello equilec,
Ah, would you mind letting me have FTP access to the PHPLD folder?
I would *love* to debug this, and see if we can find a solution for you and the others who're about to have problems with this.
If so, please PM me.
Thanks!

Hi Casey!
Thanks for the reply. But I found out something. While it may not be my server I think it has something to do with browser.
Perviously it wasn't a problem loggin into the admin area until recently about a or two week ago. Which I think I have updated a new security patch from microsoft. Currently I am using Windows XP browser.
But when I used my old laptop which is running on Windows 2000, what do u know... I could log on without any problem. So currently I am using my old lap top to update and add links into the directory, which is a little bit inconviences. :?
While I am not sure what happened to my xp browser, I'm just trying to change some settings here and there to see if anything happens.
Casey, thank you for your help. If you think that it is still a server issue. Then let me know, I will PM to you my server details to let you have a look at the my directory.
Once again, many thanks to for your reply. Btw, any advice on the browser setting will be grateful.
Cheers

Hello again :)
We aren't using cookies, and so that would rule that out.
Maybe we could talk over an IM, and I could set the debug options and with you online we could troubleshoot it and see what we could come up with.
Drop me a line :)
I've got to hit the hay, long day tomorrow.
G'Night!

Hi Casey!!
I know I have IM you a few hours ago. I believe I have solve my problem. It also solved a lot of problems with my other scripts as well.
I really have been jumping from one forum to the other to find solutions to most of my problems with regards to scripts.
And guess what?! All I did was change my browser viewer. Now I'm using Mozilla firefox. Voila!! All problems solved.
So, I'm just writing to let everyone know... If you have any problem with any script and if you are using windows explorer then Try using other browsers first, it may help. before debuging any further. I believe mircosoft did something in the new security patch which they are screaming for people to download that created all this problems!
Anyway, many thanks for your help.

I would like to shout out a note of appreciation to Casey for this help with this problem of mine. I only found out that the problem and the solution was a minor thing after all.. All Casey told me to do was:
1. To clear all password saved in IE from the tool option, and also to clear all temp internet files and cookies
2. FTP to the folder temp/templates where phpLD folder resides and clear all files in it
And voila!!! All is well... no wonder I could get Mozilla work and not in IE. Anyway... it seems like it's a bit of both. So if anyone is having the same problem as I have in logging in (Login) in the admin area just do that above.
And some tips which Casey commented on my link format urls which would have make it search engine friendly.
When typing in the Title of the catagory, just leave the URL title blank. Eventhough there is a red star which initially gave me the notion that I must key in a URL title.
Example: Suppose you want to create a catagory Business and a sub category Automation
Business > Automation
Just type in Business in the Title, leave the URL title blank and select Parent to TOP and save. Then type in Automation, leave the URL title blank and select parent to Business and save.
So when clicking on the links from your directory website the url will show www.yourdomain.com/phpLD/Business/Automation
What I previously did was to type in a unique name like linkb01 for Business and linkb01auto for Automation which actually came out as www.yourdomain.com/phpLD/linkb01/linkb01auto and this is type of URL not so search engine friendly.
So don't do as I did and be too creative as to come up with some funny URL title. Just leave it blank
Unless you have another other reason to do so. :)
All the best
