Submit Link Form Error:
Is anyone else getting this error message: The URL could not be validated. Either the page does not exist or the server could not be contacted.
Testing link directory submit form for buyforless.com/links. Have placed links to BuyForLess.com on a number of other sites I own.
But keep getting this error.
Please try submitting your web site to mine
If it works we'll exchange links. If not then .... hmmm could use the help fixing this.
Using the latest version of PHPLinkDirectory - with all patches installed.
Thanks

I tested it and I see there is a problem.
It is working for me (ex. http://www.dance-forums.com/directory/submit.php)
Today, we are going live with the new version of this site, so we are a bit preoccupied, but in the next couple of days we will get on this.
Also note, we are installing a bug tracker and cvs system on this site to make it easier for you to work with us in solving issues that come up, so please bear with us and be assured we will help as soon as possible.

I don't think it is possible to troubleshoot this without access to your server. If you are able to pm me the ftp details, I will get it solved for you.

I'm getting this exact same error (The URL could not be validated. Either the page does not exist or the server could not be contacted) when I try to submit a link.
I've had the problem with RC3 and now as well with RC4.
If anyone has any ideas I'd be happy to hear what I might look for.

bustour, I'll be happy to help. May I know what link are you trying to submit?

I actually get this error for any link that I try to submit, as a user. In the admin section I can add links to any page.

Hi bustour, can you try to apply the mod highlighted in this thread:
{old non working url removed}
Tell me if it solves the problem to you. Please also make sure your website url is configured without a trailing slash (ie. yourdomain.com not yourdomain.com/).

No luck. I still get this error (The URL could not be validated. Either the page does not exist or the server could not be contacted.) for any link that I try to submit.
Perhaps it's a problem with my host's server as I also can't get the PR, url rewrite or visual confirmation to work. I'm not really too worried about these latter problems, but obviously I need for people to be able to add links.
Any other ideas?
Edit to add : I've now installed the directory on another domain hosted elsewhere and I'm having no problems at all. Everything works fine. So, there is some kind of issue with my host and phpld.

Good to know it is working now. If you get a chance, tell us more about the host where it was NOT working, so that in the future we might know how to support this issue.
Thanks,
David

Yeah, I'm glad to see I can make it work; however, I have no intention of using it on the test site. I am still anxious to try and make it work on {non working link removed}
What kind of info about my host would you like to know?
I'm a bit stumped.
