Hi,
I am still thinking about upgrading and have a few last questions before I take the plunge.
Could anyone help me understand the DMOZ spidering function that I have read about. Does this mean that I can quickly add categories from DMOZ or does it mean that I can add sites that are listed in DMOZ?
Which leads to a few more questions:
Why would someone want to add sites from DMOZ?
And - is there a quick way that I can add a whole lot of categories? I know about the category project. But what I am after is specific travel related categories.
Thanks in advance!
Chris
You can import only links from a DMOZ category. You give the complete category URL and it crawls the links, then imports them.
Many want to import links to populate empty categories or build a directory really fast.

Thanks, that answers the first part of my question.
Does anyone know if I can get a list of categories related to travel? Is there a quick way to add categories so that I don't have to go through by hand. I imagine that would take a number of hours.
Thanks!
I remember of an old dmoz mod somewhere on the forum. That was about a year ago, soon after I've joined the forum.
Actually I don't know if it's still working, or was ever working :p
That's just a thought...

We also have a quick subcategory adder in 3.2 where you can simply list one per line and add the categories that way, so it won't be quite as bad as adding one at a time.

is there a way to make the quick subcateg URL title all lower case?
sub_category instead of Sub_Category
Content visible to registered users only.
/admin/dir_categs_edit.php
Look for (line #219):
Content visible to registered users only.
Right after add:
Content visible to registered users only.

hmmm...that made the title all lower case as well. How do you make it lower case only for the URL title?
Content visible to registered users only.
At line #249 you should have this:
Content visible to registered users only.
Replace with:
Content visible to registered users only.
I'd suggest you also make the cache URLs lowercase (line #253):
Content visible to registered users only.
