Where is that site located? Only showed my 10mbit cable modem at 1mbit download. The same meter script at:

http://www.whatismy.com/meter.php

Showed mine around 5mbit (hosted in the US)

The results of the speed test depends on several factors.

Firstly, I changed the standard file size that is being transmitted from 0.5M to 1M. How larger the file how more accurate the test is.

The location of the speed test host and the speed of the host.
Your ISP and how busy they are at the time of the test.

I have a standard 10Mb/sec isp connection ( yeah really fast)

Results shown at different times and days are from

30.80 Mbps 3.85MB/sec to +50Mbps 7MB/sec

My speed test is hosted on my private dedicated server

If a speed test is hosted at a shared server of some host together with 500 other sites, then the results will mainly depend on how busy that server is.

For those interested, I have both the original script and the lightly modified script available for free download here (http://wesece.com/forum/)
