Good question, I really don't know.
I have one that got large enough that I couldn't use the normal add link method. It would take to long to load the Cats, and thus slow things wayyy down.
I don't know the stats on it right now, I can't for the life of me remember the Pass.

I remember seeing one that had over 5,000 links.

I have more than 700 000 links in 196 categories.
The access of the categories wich are 25000+ links is so slow... I had some 100 000+ links cat. but it was unable to browse, I had to divide to 25000 links cat. And this is still very very slow...

Its great to have lots of links but it looks certain that you are parsing from another source and your traffic shows this. Anyone can build a directory based on other peoples contents and try and claim it as their own but if Google catch you out they might sandpit you  The Alexa thumbnails are slowing your site down without a doubt but its okay otherwise; the value of a direcory and the quality of traffic is based on traffic. Thats why have no page rank and are not even listed in Alexa!
Thats a shame though as I quite like your layout. The key to a succesful directory is quality not quantity. Mind you its fun comparing. I'm not gonna say whether I have 3 links or 300 links, all I can say is that I already have a PR4 and http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details?q=&url=theorangepages.com
Not even near where I want to be but its interesting to see this topic aired as for one, it allows people to see how the phplinks script can cope.
Good luck guys.

Thank you for your opinion. (I didnt' need it, this wasn't the subject of my post)
For the PR and Alexa this is normal! The site has less than 5 days...

Recif, congrats on your directory! Well done :)
Can you post a link here? I would love to take a look at it, I'm sure I can learn from it :)
Does anyone use Alexa by the way? I have never looked at it to be honest unless someone has asked specifically about it.
http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details?q=&url=alldotnet.com
Traffic Rank for alldotnet.com: 31,520
I don't think that's very reliable though, I know my traffic is nowhere near as good as other sites with the same Alexa rank.

Fair comment, won't say a thing in future. I wasn't having a dig though was just pointing out a couple of things in a well intentioned way. Sorry if it was taken any other way. As for Alexa, ALL advertisers use it as a guideline although I do agree it counts for little. For being up for only five days you've done a cracking job. I was going by the date the name appears to have been registered reg_created: 2006-02-20 23:17:57
Anyway, who cares, 5 days, 5 million days, good luck.

I've never used it... I'm not convinced about its efficiency :?
