View Full Version : Tested on a windows server?
Has anyone ever used this on a windows server using MS SQL Server for the database?
I've been searching for a couple hours, doesn't seem much of anything from windows users. I would much prefer to stick with what I'm used to if it's going to work. Otherwise if it hasn't really been tested I'd like to know before I get too many hours wrapped up in this script. :)

The most common problems with windows come during installation. Typically, if you get it installed, you are fine.
I've got a couple threads going trying to work out install problems.
Can anyone give me a link to a directory that uses this script that is running on Window and using MS SQL Server?

Hi !
My directory http://directory.pickofindia.com is running on an IIS server with no problems, but I am using MySQL databse not MS SQL. The only issue I have is that I cannot use the MOD Rewrite functionality.
Best regards,

I've ran it on Windows / Apache / MySQL
If you continue to have issues, feel free to PM me and I can take a look.

Glad to hear there is some light at the end of the tunnel. Now If I can get the script to get over the fact that I'm using MS SQL instead of MYSQL. :)
You have any problem with the session path? I have a path set and writable but I still get
Session Save Path writable? Warning: c:\tmp not existing or not writable."

Unfortunately, I haven't run this on any windows machines. Originally, it was designed to run (and was tested) with ms sql. Maybe after Christmas someone will see this post and comment (hopefully).

Hi Adac!
Are you trying to run it on a IIS webserver or on your local windows machine with server capabilities? I am running my site on a webserver and of course have no permissions to set file permission on my hosts server, hence I had to request them to set the necessary permissions for me.
My install is fortunately working perfectly :).
Best regards,
Karni
I'm using a hosting service, with IIS.
I was able to set the permissions with an FTp program. Except the c:/tmp file, I got them to change that.
I still get the same session error on install, but the host showed me the session string that got put there by the script so it seems to be working even though the script says it can't.
Last problem is with SQL server. The drop down box in the install does not list other Databases, it only will allow the default of MySQL, however, Casey is working on a manual install, so hopefully we can get past that.
If any one has used MS SQL server it would be great to see how you formatted the connection string. It seems to be a little different than I do with DotNet.
