Display time for the pricing of links

I understand that to set the display time for links, in the Admin Panel go to..

System >> Edit Settings >> Payment

There is an option 'Time unit' which is the validity period for paid links. You can set it for a Month, Trimester, Semester, Year or Unlimited.

However, when I do this nothing is actually displayed next to the pricing. The price itself is there, but the time period is not.

Why doesn't the time period display?

I have a related question.

What file needs to be edited to add some explanation about the links, i.e. to add a sentence after each link type explaining exactly what they are.

I have seen a couple of directories where this has been done, but I couldn't see which file needs to be edited.
