Access denied for user - Can't connect to SQL database

I am stuck at the first step of install. I keep getting the error Access denied for user. I know password, username, database and server are correct. Permission should be correct. I tried the account username and password, still nothing. My host isn't able to figure it out. ANY ideas???

If this helps, I had the CGI mode error when first installing the script. I think something might be wrong with my htaccess file...

If your server is running PHP in CGI mode, don't bother with phpLD 3.+ because it will work. phpLD 2 could have some little issues, but not neccessary.

I think the permission denied problems are caused by other server configurations.
