I'm not too keen on how the selection of categories and their sub-categories work on phpLD, too long winded and old school - it's one of the things holding me back from buying the script.
I just want to know if the following is do-able or workable with phpLD?

Cheers Shadav, but that AJAX category selection for phpLD is too clunky and sure the example I showed is indeed old school but if you check round the site you'll see a category auto-complete script - which is pretty cool.
I don't like the categories and sub-categories showing up in such a lengthy drop down and sure, that script is old school but it's a better way of drilling down categories.
Couple that with auto-complete and it would be great.
Right now I am trying to decide whether or not to have my own directory script built from the ground up. Can't decide. Most of the directories that I've seen built using phpLD are uninspiring and I'm drawn to FreeGlobes because of its attempt to bring some web2.0 philosophies to the table.

register a name and take a look it does what your example does. It is the regional directory version of phpLD but I imagine be little to take it over to the main one ...

Thanks Dawzz but I already looked at regional directory. It's not what I had in mind as it only allows you to choose Country - then below is the usual generic category drop down.
What I'm looking for is to choose country, THEN the next box which is regions displays the regions pertaining to the country selected.
As Shadav says, this is old school. But it works.
