Moving LD to a new directory.

Is it difficult to move phpld to a new directory on the server? Say, from the root directory to /directory?

If it isn't too difficult can someone give me some direction?

Well I decided to try and just move all the files to the /directory without doing anything to the database to see if it would work, and apparently it didin't.

After moving the files from root to /directory I'm getting this error:
"Warning: Smarty error: unable to read resource: "main.tpl" in /west/burlingt/public_html/directory/libs/smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1088"

Any help is appreciated. I'm testing the move on burlingtoninformation.com which isn't so critical. I'm looking to move the phpld to /directory on VermontInformation.com because of some overhauls I'm doing to the site, but VermontInformation.com is more active and don't want any issues.

Willing to donate for help.
