Am I correct in assuming that all of the mods for phpld2 will have to be recreated in order to work in phpld3?

Also, will there be an importer for phpld2 to phpld3?

I would expect there will generally be a series of important releases:
1) phpLD 3.0 released
2) upgrade method and instructions
3) integration of mods
These things will probably not happen all at once, but rather we'll slowly get everyone moved that wants to upgrade. It is possible that 1 and 2 will be simultaneous, because we have some excellent install ssripts already in place in 2.0.

The directory search is not very targeted and can be quite fustrating.
will phpLD 3.0 have a manual keyword meta tag field or automatic extractor for link submitters?
Input on submission and options to edit through accounts?

Maybe the research done in this topic can help quicken overall 'meta' direction for admin and user accounts.

I plan to stick to the goals as listed on www.phpld.com as the highest priority
BUT
if we can get 3.0 released and money coming in, there is no reason we can't have a more robust system for regular updates and enhancements.

:lol: Ok I'll take that as a no. I'm prepared to commission someone to make this meta addition happen, however would have to wait till 3.0 comes out to ensure compatibilty with user accounts.

I may sometimes be a little slow, but you'll find once you know me that I almost never drop the ball. Sometimes you have to bug me a little, but things do get done when I commit to do something.

I'm about to commission someone to do a theme for my directory. Will there be any new syntax that could make my theme not work in 3.0? I would hate to spend the money and then have to do it all over again.

By the way, I fully plan to financially support the developers once the release is out. I only wish there was dmoz-type importing support as an offical (working) mod. ;)

Myself and quite a few others are waiting for PHPLD 3 to come out before we buy/donate. Is there a new eta on that?

Question. Is it recommended to overwrite the old Version 2 files with the new Version 3 files? I am now uploading them to the root directory and not the normal one, but I DO want to overwrite the old ones eventually since that was the original structure of the site that has always been indexed.
