Install Directory on a Subdomain or Directory?

I would like to know your opinions which one is better for directory listing.
1. Install the directory in a subdomain
2. Install the direcotry in a folder

As far is SEO, I think they can both be equally effective.

either way...however I'd suggest creating a subdomain for it only because there are a few directories that do not allow submissions of extentions but will allow subdomain submissions.

but as far as PR and SEO both are fine...
