unable to login to /admin/

I tried several times to login to my admin area but once I clicked the login button nothing happened
then it restarted working without me to modify anything
do u know what it might be due to?
during this span of time I noticed that phplinkdirectory.com was down

might these 2 events be related each other? does phpld retrieve something from phplinkdirectory.com while logging in? I think no but...
