You can change the site settings in admin, and also you may need to talk to your host about setting up a subdomain.

Kewl. I just did this using cPanel.
:link removed
Do I leave the phpld software in the :link removed: folder as the above link seems to be working still? Or it is best to move the phpld script to the new URL :link removed? Bit confusing this.
I haven't even changed anything in the phpld admin panel yet...
Edit: this is what I have in cPanel
:links removed

what is better to use SEO wise
:link removed
i have my forums as - :link removed so maybe it would be best to just have the directory the same. To be honest i wish i had the forums URL as :link removed: but it's to late to change that now for ranking reasons.

Personally, I don't think it matters.

yes you would leave it in your root/directory folder...then as you've done in your cpanel create a subdomain called directory...now you can access your directory by
directory.domain.tld or domain.tld/directory
and as david, i don't think it matters either way

getting mixed opinions about which to use. A lot say it’s better to use directory.domain.tld because it increases some kind of ratio or something which helps the domain rank better. Many times I’ve seen other webmaster mention that when you have the directory coming of a folder the ratio drops because the directories coming of a folder rather than a single name example: directory.domain.tld. Thing is even when using directory.domain.tld it’s still pulling information from /folder so I can’t see how it would make a difference either.
I guess it’s just a case of pick one as nobody seems to know which one is better, or if there isn't a difference whatsoever.
Ps I’ve sent you a pm, David. Get back to me when you get a chance…

lol a subdomain is in a folder as well :D
i don't know about all that, the only thing that I do know is that some directories do not accept extentions (domain.tld/directory) but they will accept subdirectories (directory.domain.tld)
I don't think google cares either way...i mean after all look at their site they use both ways :P
it's more a matter of preferance.
