Access denied for user 'xxx' (using password: YES)

I am installing PHPLD v3.2 and get this error message

I created an msql db and user, the user has all rights, password is ok, username ok (all copied)

What am I doin wrong?

Have you assigned the user to the database? Have you assinged a password to the user? Re-check if you've entered them correctly on the phpLD install page.

Yes, all 3 questions, yes.
I first installed PHPLD v2, same problem.

then I thought, wth, I install v3.2
but the problem remains

Durring install of 3.2, I couldn't seem to get past it, on the line where it asks for the database server I ended up having to put 127.0.0.1 . and for some reason dunno why it didn't accept it the first time so had to redo it and it worked with no problems.....

Yep, that was the solution. David solved it for me.

Instead of the website's IP address I had to fill in "localhost" in the installation process.
