David

Looks like we are over 82,000 posts now. Thanks everyone for your participation in this community. Any predictions on when we will hit 100,000 posts?
(I think we do about 150 per day now)

I think you should add some webmaster related sections to this forum too, there are enough users here to participate.

I think you should offer a prize to the person who has the closest guess. :D
I will take a guess at Dec 18th 2007 at 08:16 GMT :p

As of now 84,061, i would say... during December.. there will be over 100,000 posts... and yea i agree.. there should be some webmaster related categories here in this forum..
I just love PHPLD...

Personally, I think there should NOT be any specific webmaster topics here. There are thousands of very good webmaster resources on the internet and this forum, in my humble opinion, should stick to PHPLD related queries and support only, otherwise it would become easily bogged down with unrelated topics.

i could possibly see a webmasters strictly related to phpLD forum...but that's pretty much what the community and advertising forums are for....
[edit]explains a bit...like a forum of, what is the best ad companies to use for phpLD or scripts to add on to your phpLD that wasn't specifically created for it (like a php site statistics script or something) or list of hosting companies that work great for phpLD.....

We'll think about expanding the forums as we get busier. I will add that we are closer to 200 posts per day now (often over 200, but averaging closer to 200).

Gets up on my soapbox and applauds.
I agree totally.
You add forums like that you end up with drama filled fight fests where you always tick off on side or the other.

well then I now say the week of November 7th if we get an average of 200 post per day

if you added some sort of market place/extra forums to discuss other things i expect the phpLD community would be more active. Congrats on the nice forum anyways.

Currently it is 86,798 posts.
David there is a way this forum can hit 100,000 in next few days ... ;)
All we have to do is start a thread about "PR Update Going on" and ........ well, you know the rest ;)
Now give me a gift for revealing that secret :D
David
08-29-2007, 05:11 PM
Exactly. I've resisted changing the format of this forum to include a lot of posts that are not related to phpLD (ex. an seo or webmaster section). I prefer to stick to key phpLD topics so that we can provide the best support, and not get lost in other topics, so as to provide the best support to our users.
(I know you were making a joke, and it was funny). :)

I appreciate that, however more posts means more content. It may just be nice to discuss similar topics, like advertisement or link building etc - things that would help dir. owners.
David

I see the benefit in the content area, but at this point, I'm not convinced enough, but I won't rule it out either. :)

My forum is tiny, 2000 posts. It manages to get shed loads of google traffic. Surely by adding webmaster forums, there will be quality content created. This will help drive CRAZY google traffic, as (speaking for myself) i always search google for php problems etc, and nearly always end up on a forum like this.
James
08-29-2007, 08:46 PM
yeah but the traffic it would generate isn't what a commercial script site needs :)
mikey1090
08-29-2007, 08:58 PM
My motto goes traffic = customers = profit. More traffic to the site could mean more sales
James
08-29-2007, 09:05 PM
useless traffic = more trolls/drama queens = more time wasted :)

with the popularity of directories these days both phpld and phplb I predict it might be this month.
mmastation
08-31-2007, 09:19 PM
why not add a marketplace for buying/selling I know you have advertising and exchanges but you could broaden it. There is no reason for more templates, mods, directory links and such for phpld to be sold on DP than here in my opinion. This way it makes you a complete one stop shop.;) Just my idea

I have something similar to what you ask in the works. There will be some QA involved in the process, but this is an exciting thing that is coming quite soon! :) (It will be separate from the forums)
And wanted to note that that we just passed 90,000 posts.

David

Yes, this is coming, but what we will be avoiding is a "free for all" like DP. I was personally scammed there, and I know many others too that had the same thing happen. Our program is going to be really cool, but is still a couple of months away.

I like the idea and I think there must also be a limit/restriction on "advertisement".
Let's see what is coming :)

lmfao a little familiar, oh i've only browsed over 50 webmaster sites to get an idea of how i wanted the structure to be (and yes i did copy and paste a few forum names/descriptions lol, i mean how original can i get with billions of webmaster sites out there)
actually at the time i started this i didn't know about sitepoint but i'll check them out...not sure if i'll join lol....i've enough forums i belong to right now to keep me busy....
