It means your host is blocked by google from checking pagerank, so you might consider:
1) turning this feature off
2) purchasing the pagerank updater tool

My site is same and I decide to turn it off.
I have the same problem. It is to do with the way your host's server calculates the checksum google needs to view the pagerank. I have noticed that if you get the checksum from a server that works and add it manually your server will get the correct pagerank. I have yet to figure out what settings on the server's cause the wrong calculations. I am working with my host to resolve this but we're not getting anywhere quickly with a fix.

The way I understand it...
Google is actually blocking many webservers, preventing pagerank checks.
Probably, but not all will be that prob. Mine is simply due to a mis-calculation of the checksum and some others will be the same due to server configuration's.

I have changed every PR to 5, 6 in phpmyadmin manuallly.
It's still showing N/A
hehe, we cant change it like that?
That should actually work, right up til you edit the links when it'll check again and re-set to -1

Could someone explain to me this "ban" by Google? Not to say I don't believe that Google bans certain IP's, but I've tried phpld on two different IP's, spanning 3 different URL's (one of which was brand new and unknown to Google), and I was unable to get the feature to work on any of them.
Looking through past threads, it seems the common answer to anyone asking about this feature is "you must be banned". Could it possibly be a bug?
Is there some way of running the lookup code manually, or is there a way to trigger a log output to see if that is indeed what is happening?
Or could this simply be a case that the site needs a Google API license (though I don't know how the lookup has been implemented).
I am just curious here guys, this is by no means a complaint.

Google API does not give pagerank, and Google forbids automated queries to their server. So that is why it is best not to do it from your webserver, especially automated queries that check pagerank for multiple sites at once.

Hi, I replied to you, and I just released it for free to members of the Supporters Forum, as an added incentive to upgrade to the paid version (3.0)

Not trying to stir things up here, but could there be another problem here?
For example, when I installed phpld on my development laptop, the pagerank was not getting updated properly.
However, when I ran the pagerank update tool on the same server, it was able to retrieve the pagerank.
Just curious.

David was kind enough to incorporate the ability to edit the pagerank from the control panel in the regional script. This is a feature that I think everyone would like to see added to the phpLD script as well.
When I receive new submissions, I simply click on the site in question to open it in a new window. From there, I can see the pagerank, and I simply choose the correct pagerank from the drop-down box while editing the submission.
Please David. This is such a great feature! Can you add this to the script?

Ok, this is going to "make" 3.04, and there will also be a place to edit the Hits too.

Woooohoo, I can make my directory look like the links are getting 100's of hits?
Haha, jk
oh great... a 'hits' editor.
now we have to deal with people falsifying their hits.

To be honest, I have too many links in my directory to make a manual edit an ideal option.
PR changes over time, so if PR on my site doesn't match reality, it becomes a problem. Site visitors, will wonder (rightly so) if the PR on my site is just arbitrary.
I again wonder out loud if there is something wrong in the way the pr update code is working here. Why is it the update tool can retrieve pg for 100's of links at once, but the site can't return a few dozen?
As PR is not constantly updated, has anyone ever thought of checking for pr on a monthly basis? Or at least just infrequently enough for google not to care?

Hi there Geoffrey, just wondering back out loud
it could be that the IP address which points to a definitive region could be banned by Google NOT your server. For example if you are calling up PR from Computer 1 succesfully but not from Computer 2, say your laptop then it is highly likely to be your IP address, you know the one that is assigned to EVERY computer. The second theory is that Google delivers results from different data centers at any given time, you may catch them on the hop you may not?
May not be correct as it could be the server you call from that is blocked and my theories are after all just thinking out loud ones.

In the example I was using, I tried it from the same dev machine, ie my laptop. As I sit behind a router, the IP address is static. But I have tried this one a few machines now and they all fail when using the site, but succeed when using the update code.
Weird! :)
geoffrey
dj, could your router be an issue?
