Hey,
Is it possible to use my own template?
By that I mean, is it possible to paste the code into a HTML template that I have already written?
Cheers in advance and thanks for all the help thus far.

Hi I haven't actually done that (I'm planning to do it when the new release comes out) but I would imagine you'll have to edit all the tpl files in the templates folder. Shouldn't be a problem if you're proficient with HTML (and ignore all the smarty codes).
Just yell if you need help.

Yes, you can totally customize the template(s).
See here,
{url removed because it was not working}
Just stay clear of the tpl coding; unless you know what you're doing.
I love this thing... I'll probably customize it a little more to show thumbnails.org info; unless its in the next update. But, other than that... I'll be recommending it to all of my clients. :)
Thanks guys

I checked through the admin panel and could not find the function to change background colour, color, add pictures, change layout, templates, etc. :(
Is there a simple way to make such changes?
Thanks, folks.

I could be wrong, but I believe that you have to edit your css files.

Yes, the main thing you want to edit is header.tpl and footer.tpl in the templates folder. You'll see some Smarty code, but you can place regular html in the files. That is what makes smarty the most popular templating system, because it is so easy to integrate design with code.
So you can see how I did it, here is the code I used in header.tpl at www.danceforums.net/directory/

HOW DID YOU DO THAT? :O that's exactly what I want. I want it to be displayed on a page in {url removed because it was not working}.... how would I do this?

It's a matter of editing your header/footer templates in the 'templates' folder.
Open them up, look around and make changes. Always backup your existing copy before playing with it. Best way to learn is to get in there and get dirty.

Is that all that is required then? Once you have it displaying within the header footer, that is it?

My only concern is that there seems to be a javascript error on the page.

It looks pretty good to me in that it seems to be working fine. I guess some browsers may be less forgiving on the js error. What exactly is the error you found?
I tried to add Google Adsense's javascript to the tpl file.
The javascript work find at header.tpl, but does not work at footer.tpl and top_bar.tpl.
Is there a way to make adsense ad appear at the location below submit bar and above the search result of the directory?
Thanks.

Javascript error reported in the bug thread here:
{url removed because it was not working}
It definitely throws Opera into a tizzy, and I suspect is the reason for load lag in IE. A fix would be most welcome.
Thanks kickass for the info.
Just visited your site and agree that CSS is a much better option than Tabled layout.

Thanks! I'm too busy at the mo to get it ready for general release, but if you want a copy of what I used so you have a css/tableless base to customize from, just PM me. techlinks and vkaryl are already swearing at it *grin*

I'm not. Really. Or at least not much.... *laughing*
It's really great of you to allow others access to your css skills like this, and I for one TRULY appreciate it!
