hi all, I just downloaded php links directory for the first time and so far its looking like it has everything I want. I was wondering if there is a way to import a list of categories and if someone has a list of categories for a general web directory that they would be willing to let me use for testing and getting everything setup properly.
If you are familiar with phpMyAdmin you can use it to import the categories from a CSV file into the directory table. First look at the PLD_CATEGORY table fields and create a CSV file containing the necesary fields and import it. After importing the categories please update the PLD_CATEGORY_SEQ table (it contains only one row and one column) with the biggest ID from the category table. If the _SEQ table does not exist just add a category from the admin area and it will be created.

that doesn't sound too hard, thanks for the info. Does anyone have a ready made csv file that I could use?

I used CSV to migrate an existing directory.
It is still a work in progress (2 years running  ). It is fairly complete, with an exception to a World Structure (Canada, France, UK, etc...).
Where should I send the file, and would you be interested in Networking our directories (through the appropriate category)?
