hi there,
I'm wondering what else do we need to change when using phpld in other language?
The templates files maybe?
Also, for the double byte languages as chinese, do we need to change the encoding on pages code?
Hope someone can help,
Thanks everyone

I'm hoping we can get some sort of live demo working.
I'm not very expert in this area either.
With a little time, we'll get this organized and working.

You have to write your language file that you will save in the "lang/" folder. Just edit one of the files there with your own language and it works. Usually you don't have to change the template files. The first install step is for choosing your language, but you can change it also in "include/config.php".
And I think you have to change also the page encoding for chinese or orher languages using that kind of characters. AFAIK there are Big5 and GuoBiao (GB). Big5 encodes traditional characters and is used in Hong Kong and Taiwan, while GB encodes simplified characters and is used in mainland China and Singapore. But just try UTF-8 that is default in phpLD, I've heard it works, not sure.

My experience is using UTF-8 is fine with Chinese characters. Especially when there are western letter and Chinese characters mixing together.

Hi David,
Do you know what else we need to change?
I installed the script to use it with spasnih.
Problem:
When I try to login into admin panel, nothing happens, just a blank page is displayed.
If I setup the include/functions.php ti 'en' and login to admin panel, works ok, then I change back the 'en' for 'sp' (spanish) and the admin panel works ok in spanish. But then when trying to login again, I get the blank page.
Any help appreciated,
David

I'll flag this one and get someone to take a look at it.

One thing you might try is deleting the files from /temp/templates and then trying to login to admin.

Hi thanks for the answer,
After I translated the en.php and saved all tpl files as utf-8 encoding, the thanslation seems to work.
to login to admin panel, it's working but it's has some bugs:
first I have to type the full path domain.com/admin/login.php, type user and password and get the blank page. Then I just delete the login.php from the path leaving it like domain.com/admin/ . Doing this I get in !!
I'm trying to find the problem but I'm not expert :?
David, do we need to translate the admin/messages.tpl file apart from en.php?
Good day.
@ blackpepper
Can you please send me your spanish file for a quick test?

You have to create a separate file, called "es.php" and on top there should be:

Thank you!

I installed version 2.0 two or three weeks ago and haven't got enough time to work with all the functions yet. Let alone implementation of the CN file. Maybe some later time. :)

Unfortunately I don't believe we have 2.1 translated to Chinese, though I think there may be some Chinese users that have done this, but not published anything here on the forums.
