Installation help

I've been building and testing my directory as a sub-folder under my main website. Now I want to move it to it's own domain name. Do I need to do a re-install? Will I lose all my categories and configuratins?

I tried this once and it worked okay for me. What I did was to use WS_FTP pro, or another ftp client. I created an offline folder, and then sent every single file over to it. I then went to my root, and simply sent over all the files once again and then deleted the old folder (sub) and it worked. Alternatively, the best way is to actually simply back up everything, delete the sub folder and re-install freshly connecting to the existing database, *The database will not be affected as it is seperate from your root folder, so all your categories and links will remain there.

Then if you have modified your template files etc then simply send them back over making sure you CHMOD accordingly.

You shouldn't have any problems. Remember, back up at all costs! Just in case :)
