I have not purchased php directory yet! but I have no experience with php or similar software.

As a complete novice but with some intelligience will I be able to set up a directory with all the mods on my own?

Any advice given much appreciated

the directory itself is fairly easy to install, if you need help feel free to ask, if i'm free I'll be more then happy to help....otherwise David has people who can install for you for a fee

mods, that just depends on the mod and how good the instructions are :D
again if you need help with that feel free to ask and we can work out a price to install the mods

welcome to phpLD and i'm sure you'll enjoy the script, i would suggest just going for the paid version and not the free one....both are good but trust me, 3.3 is awsome and will save you time and is more feature rich then 2.x series

I agree with Shadav.... the initial install is a piece of cake. If you have a 'non-standard' hosting set up, you might experience a few minor problems, but I have yet to see one that has not been sorted out by the people here.

As for mods.... I have installed plenty (both free and paid) and as Shadav says, it does really depend upon the instructions. I will say, in my humble opinion, that the best instructions come with VSDans mods. If you can count from 1 to 10, you should be able to install any of his mods with no trouble whatsoever.

You don't really need any php experience. When I started with phpLD about 6 or 7 months ago, I knew nothing at all about php, but have since learned a great deal, thanks to the script. It's not just a great script, but a useful learning tool as well. HTML and CSS is always useful if you want your directory to have a unique look.

The forums contain a great deal of help and advice in the unlikely event you do experience any problems.

My advice is to go for it. If you're not sure, go for the free version first, but for the extra features and security, the $25 for version 3.3 is well worth it.

Bruce.
