Site Design Suggestions

Hello all. I've been working on my site design and altho its close to what I'm looking for I'm not sure about the navagation and left side bar. Could I get a few folks to check it out and let me know what you think or make any suggestions.. The categorys are just a dump, been working on new list. My testing category is arts & humanities.
