Hi, I am in the process of setting up a website for a domain I have registered. The actual website is not live yet, and I want to purchase phpld now to setup the look and feel before going live. So

1. Is it possible to purchase a licence on a site that is not live.
2. Can phpld be setup on a local machine, i.e. localhost

Thx

It probably depends on the host, but i did this with two of my directories on 'unresolved domains' by just using the IP address that I was given. Be aware that some features like SEO friendly URL's may not work correctly without a fully resolved domain, but you should be able to set up the 'look and feel' without too much trouble.

Your best bet is to get the domain resolved and just set up an underconstruction page (a simple index.html will suffice), by pointing the 'Directoryindex' setting in .htaccess. to index.html.
phpLD uses index.php, so that will be hidden from the world while you set it up. When you are finished, change the htaccess setting back.

If you've just bought an unhosted domain, then do a search on google for XAMPP: It's a cross-platform webserver application that you should be able to install on your PC and run phpLD and test it there. I don't use it though, so I can't offer any specific advice on it. I know that other users here swear by it.

And yes, you do not need to fill in the domain name in order to purchase. You can add it later, but please make sure you don't forget when you go live, as this could result in a take down notice being sent to your host or registrar.
Thanks,
