change "home" link in categories

the "home" link in every category and sub category seems to be linking to itself, instead of to the homepage, Is this normal?

Is there a mod for making them all point back to the homepage?
I can't seem to find it :oops:

You could just simply change the link to read yoursite.com

^^what he said. Also, I suggest using Smarty's way of doing it to maintain a higher level of standardization. By doing it the way I posted(Smarty's way), your 'Home' Directory, whether it be blah.com or blah.com/directory (wherever you installed your script) will always find it's way 'Home' aka the 'root', without having to edit the file again.

It must be added that it doesn't really matter in this case whether the link is put down as smarty or as a standard hyperlink,, in fact the hyperlink will ALWAYS take you to the page as Content visible to registered users only. is universal in all languages.

You do what works for you, don't worry about the Content visible to registered users only. evolution means nothing will ever be standardized. You do what works for you, I do!

Wrong!

you're comparing a hard coded hyper link to a Smarty dynamic link.
you cannot move things around and still get back 'home' doing it your way. (the 'more work' way i might add)

if your directory goes from:
mylinks.com ---> mylinks.com/directory

your way will be NEED CHANGE. my way will AUTOMATICALLY CHANGE.

Also, i can tell you don't even know what you're talking about, because this has absolutely nothing to do with , but rather, what goes INSIDE the href. duh!

go ahead and knock yourself out with more work, if/when change is needed. it's not my thing.

fyi: i *am* a software engineer. while my php knowledge is limited and my smarty knowledge is close to non-existant, i do understand and implement methods which make my life and workload easier.

my directroy is unique to anything out there so far, and i will continue to build as i progress.

That's ok though, you go ahead and keep paying for your mods. i'll just write my own and maintain my OO ways.

I think the initial question was answered and anyone should use whatever fits best, eighter "Smarty" way (Smarty Template Engine) or "manual" change.

If you want to post something constructive, please PM me or another admin/moderator to grant access or unlock thread.

PS: I did not ment it as an personal attack eighter to Kevin or anon.
