Pear Mod for email not functioning

Has anyone developed a Pear work around for the email function? Many providers, including mine have blocked Php email functions from nobody. My provider told me I would need to modify the code to comply with Pear http://pear.php.net/manual/en/package.mail.mail.send.php

Otherwise the directory will not work for me. Does 3.0 have a pear version?

I have never used pear before, but i shall look into it

My understanding is that this code will work:Content visible to registered users only.

Where do I plug it in. I am not a php whiz.

I can tell you that 3.04 should solve the "nobody" problem, and that it is almost ready.
