Hey,
I'm testing some templates and I dont want to buy a domain for each, do I have setup the accounts and I am using the with an IP and the cPanel/WHM account fuction
When you try one of the links none work, I think this is because it isn't using a domain.
Anyone know of any problems doing this and any solutions?
I will have quite a few templates to test so I need to do it using IPs.
Thanks :)

I have used these methods b4. What you need to do I think is to go to your root, make a fresh folder, call them template1, template2, whatever you like, you then open these folders as individual entities and load the scripts up to them as if they were a root folder. When you install then this is what you do.
Hope this helps.

You are on a virtual domain.
I'd guess that if you manually add the "~commond1/" to the URLs the links will work.

Thanks for the help.
The links still include the ~commond1 but they aren't coming up.
Is it because of mod_rewrite?

Content visible to registered users only.
Oops, I must be on another planet! I look for too simple a solution? I thought that if you had an ip address you could make a million and one seperate folders? I'm learning on this one so what is it that makes you have to use this bit Content visible to registered users only. instead of a normally named folder?

This is more an issue with mod rewrite on your server.
Because I can see it would work fine with mod rewrite turned off.
It will be hard to know for sure until you have the domain working, but the first thought is mod rewrite is not working or that your htaccess file missing or not functioning properly.

Content visible to registered users only.
Too deep for me David, your talking about basic root or something  I'll jump ever so politely out of this one. :)

mod rewrite can be both a godsend and devil at the same time. just depends on what you are doing in it.

Hehe no problem :)
I think I will just go buy some extra domains to test :)
Thanks

john, You will have to use the full URL on all links. I have done the same thing on domains that have not resvolved.
Another possible solution, which I have been doing lately, is to just use a subdomain as a testing ground.
hows this for a suggestion:
create a table of domains urls, each corresponging with a unique id.
you'll obviously know your domain urls and id, so you could just make a call to the db for that particular url and at the same time, the code used can be the same, just with each calling it's respective id from your db.
follow me?
Rob
edit: example
Content visible to registered users only.
so in your code, for a specific directory, you'd just need to make a change to call that specific ID when referencing the URL, and be able to still maintain an object oriented approach to your coding standards all throughout however many directories you use.

Hello...
I suggest you to download EASYPHP web server (http://www.easyphp.org) install it on your PC and test PHPLD (just like me)
VERY EASY WAY .................................
Thanks,
