Smarty Validate Error

I occasionally get this error:

Notice: SmartyValidate: [is_valid] criteria function '' was not
found. in
/home/xxxxx/xxxxxxx/user/htdocs/libs/smarty/SmartyValidate.class.php
on line 558

Fixing it is easy I just upload the /libs directory. Everything is OK and submissions come in, then I get someone saying they get this error when trying to submit. I check, get the same message, upload the files again and everything is OK.

Any ideas as to cause? Is it someone trying to hack into the site, or just a ropey update by the host?

Any help appreciated.

Can you give me the url of your domain name so I can have a try at submitting!?

I also typed in your error in my search and got this url..... it appears the question has been asked before..

Someone else has had the same problem with PHPLD:

I am now getting a problem where the form does not submit, it justs posts back to itself with no error messages. Again re-uploading Smarty fixes it, but what is breaking Smarty? Unfortunately my host will not answer scripting questions.
