I didn't see anything like this. Hope it isn't a duplicate but I find it extremely useful. Enjoy!
This mod allows you to check for broken links in the background using cron or other task scheduler. It will also verify reciprocal links. If a link is broken it is flagged inactive and you can allow the script to recheck it or check them manually.
I'm using it in 2.1.2 but it should work without modification in 3.x. If you use it in 3.x let me know and please link back to http://www.linkdirectory.tv/
