I am doing a new install of PHPLD and I am getting a db error. I searched the forms and tried some things, but did not find a fix. The error is:
An error occured while connecting to the database. Please check your database username and password. If you require help with your database server settings, please consult your hosting company. The database server returned the following message: Lost connection to MySQL server during query
I set up the database in MySQL, ran a script I found to insert the tables and fields. Still getting the errors. The host required that my domain is in front of the db name (listblue_directory). I have checked the user name and password, which also require the domain in the front. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Kevin

The prefix needs to be in front of the database name AND database username. the password does not have a prefix.
Also, the database location should probably be localhost

Yes, I do not have the prefix in the password. Sorry about that. You are correct, localhost is what I needed. I talked to my hosting service and that person told me to user the hostxxx.ipowerweb.com. Thank you for your time and help.

Let me take this opportunity to note that ipowerweb consistently gets bad reviews at webhosingtalk.com and that I recommend site5.com and hostgator.com
(though I hope you have a good experience at ipowerweb)

I have had excellent service from them. For over two years, no down time or problems. With tech support, it depends on who you talk to. When setting up my OSCommerce, I have great support getting the info. Thanks for your help and input. It is greatly appreciated.

Okay, another questions for you and none of the form solutions worked. I am at the admin login and it keeps giving me invalid user name and password. I went into the MySQL and deleted the password from the admin, but it did not work. I thought in these pages somewhere it had a default login for the first time?

You should be able to make the password blank in phpmyadmin and get in that way. An alternative would be to do an md5 lookup here:
{topic was moved or deleted}
Type in the password, and receive the hash value. Then put this value in the password field.

My error reads
Content visible to registered users only.
The server is on my computer. However my server package's [Aeonserv] MySQL doesn't give me a user name. Just a password. Does anyone know the default user, if any, for MySQL?

Don't feel bad...
I needed something to make me laugh anyway. :)
