I love this project, and I want to build a site around it.

Why should i buy 3.0 instead of just using 2.0

1. because if you don't support the script you so call 'love'
then that means no funding, and then that means no more script.

2. google & yahoo maps

3. more stuff on the backend.

I'll tell you why in my opinion you should upgrade.

I've been in this game longer than most on this forum and seen scripts come and go. I've bought dozens of scripts, lots with better features than this but not with an ounce of support even if they say there is. I would honestly value this script as worth several hundreds of dollars on the market with the level of support that comes with it. Crikey, you'll even get people to install it for you in an emergency.

Version 3 is good enough for not just newcomers to the game, I've had directories online for 8 years and this is possibly the best one that I've seen. Sure you will always want more but thats the beauty of version 3. You can get support for just $10 forever and you can get revisions personal to you from some of the greatest programmers on the planet. Theres so much to tell you but the best thing you can do is to buy it and see for yourself. I promise you that you will not be dissapointed.

You should spend the $35 on the script and support without thinking about it!

Within 1 week you can get your knowlege base up to my level, absolutely zero  seriously I am a noob with regard to scripting but have managed to put (what I think) is a professional looking directory together. The point I am trying to make is that I doubt this would have happened without the fantastic support from everyone involved with the product.

My suggestion is just do it. Pay the money and get the best product on the market.

Very compelling arguments, but I'm such a goofball that I almost feel that I would be throwing that money away.

But you know what, I need that back end support because I'm a goofball, so where do I pay?

BTW, take a look at my first PHPld attempt and tell me if I can do more with version 3.0

As mentioned previously, the newer versions of phpLD dont look any different than the older. the only exception is that 3.03 has a login and register link. You can require users to use it in order to submit links.

I set up a 3.03 demo, and even granted admin access. See the last post in this thread.

Another benefit of supporting this script by buying the version is that people like me who have paid for other mods to be made are more likely to share with like minded supporters of this script as opposed to the people who want the free one and also expect the same level of support the paid version gets.!

I just purchased version 3 straight away and didn't have version 2.0.

So I came at it totally fresh and am impressed. I would like to see the script supported but in my opinion it's strong and will gather it's own momentum based on it's own merits.

I'm looking at building some more sites.

A paid model is the best way to go since it ensures development continues to all our mutual benefits. Another script I work with has had a paid model for some time and it is evolving constantly to better things. It is actually amazing to watch how a little support from the members can inspire creation.

I strongly believe even though my directory is just starting I will easily recoup the investment. This is how I think about all my internet transactions - return on investment. I have 4 income producing sites and the tools I use are key to their success.

In case you missed it. I recommend version 3.
