I would to start by only releasing this to current users, and then starting in 1-2 days, I will release it to others.

Some of the new features include:
1) Support for Atom Feeds
2) It has been "NewsTopica-ized" so it doesn't appear to be phpLD. :)
3) It allows submission and approval of RSS feeds.
4) Admin specifies which type of feed they wish to import when adding
5) Calendar feature allows viewing of news by date. This feature will need a little more work, but pretty cool "as is"
6) There is a link built into admin for importing feeds, and it tells of success/failure
7) Detail pages for each link (ex. http://www.newstopica.com/demo2/detail.php?id=470)

My favorite part is the Atom support. Atom Feeds may contain html. For example, check this out:
http://www.newstopica.com/demo2/index.php?c=5

If you are a current license holder of NewsTopica, you are entitled to a free copy, as well as access to the NewsTopica Supporters Forum.

I will be happy to show a demo of the admin as well.

Please PM me to get your copy of 2.0.

Thanks,
David

Good work!
Testing it right now as you can see.

David, will those two issues i mentioned be worked out, or have you fixed them prior to release?

Rob

edit:

hrmm, did anyone else get newstopica latest? if so, can you send it to me, as clubracer does not appear to be answering PMs.

You say you are getting the same problem...
but you are not seeing this problem on the demo, correct?

What is the url of the feed you are trying to import?

everything is the same in the PM i sent you. a few days back.

demo is fine, mine gives me whitespace error. and i think it's because of the 'main' title still showing tag: & cluster=uh4664 from within the link.

any xml link does the same thing.

I guess I need access to your site, so I can get someone to take a look for you.

Thanks,
David

would you recommend i do a complete uninstall and then re-install first?

i think i'll try that, and if to no avail, then... dunno what someone else checking in will do, but hey, if it'll get things working, then np.

i've changed things up so as to stay productive. hehe, if you thought the regional you got was good, wait and see what i have in store :p
(even sybolism included haha..it's going to be insane and mucho time consuming)

I assume you are dealing with the latest version.
Feel free to login to newstopica.com/demo2 and play around with it to make sure it does work.

i've done that :) actually, as soon as you gave mention to the google atom feeds, i was in that thing 30 seconds later

remember, i was the one who gave mention of the table formatting, as it had went out of whack when i imported hahaha

I have a working version 2, but it is very picky about the feeds it chooses to validate. Basically, I try one and if it fails I delete it and find another.

I would appreciate it if you could start saving the feeds that are not working, and start a new thread on this very topic. I want to start seeing the reason why, and address the problem directly.

David in the demo i see:

http://www.newstopica.com/demo2/index.php?c=15

http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/6231/screen12do.jpg

Actualy it publish in one newsitem 2 different sources (zeilen and watersporters.info).

Also there are two title links, one on top and one in the discription.
ex.
http://www.newstopica.com/demo2/detail.php?id=811

How can we fix this so it looks like a clean news item?

David

We have not updated demo2 to the latest version.
In the latest version, we do not have this problem.

I'm confused here...

he's saying that there are more than 1 links and it makes it look cluttered and unprofessional? am i reading that right?

that's a google *atom* newsfeed, and it's suppose to be like that.

what he needs to do is find a different feed or modify the existing code to suffice for his desirable output.

maybe i am just not reading it right...

The two title links are not vissible on Google News, it only shows up in the Newstopica output. I understand that there is more then one link below the arcticle but not above.

David is the demo updated yet so i can start testing?
