Install Step 1 problem

I followed all the install instructions and spend a couple hours looking through the forum and cant fix this problem. (free version 2.2.0)

I can get to the install page 1 where it asks the language. I click English and click next. page refreshes and goes right back to the same page. nothing ive tried works.

Try going to
domain/install/index.php?step=2

i tried doing that with no success. anything else?

reupload all the files. without an url cant do anything

ok, i was able to get to step 3, but when i put in my database info and clicked next, nothing happened. it just stayed there and refreshed. so when i tried to directly go to step 4 i get this error:

Missing file: /hermes/bosweb/web224/b2245/ipw.xpirtdesign/public_html/directory/libs/adodb/drivers/adodb-db_driver.inc.php

ADONewConnection: Unable to load database driver ''

Are you sure all files are uploaded?

ok, i uploaded EVERYTHING and i got stuck again on step 1 (language), so i went straight to step 2 and was able to get there. now, there are a list of requirements here and the page says that all the requirements are ok except the following:

"Server API : CGI Mode is likely to have problems."
"Session Save Path Writable?"

both of these have a red X next to it.

any suggestions?

ok so i clicked next on step 2, it brought me to step 3, i entered my db info correctly, and it would not let me through to step 4....so i tried to go to step 4 directly, and it would just refresh step 3 again.

oh and if i go directly to step 4 it gives me this error again:

and then if i go directly to step 5 it says "thank you for installing, blah blah"

then i click "edit admin pages" and it gives this error again

If you will send over access to your site, I will see what can be done to get it up and running. Sounds like your host may have something strange about the configuration.
