Hi

Im trying to include a newsfeed on my directory, but i cant get it to work.
Im using a php parser called lastRSS, but i get alot of smarty errors.

Any of you got a working parser on your directory pages, you wanna share ? :)

Also when i test the parser on a blank page, i get an error.

I use lastrss also

heres my code which should be inserted into the main.tpl

the first line ensures the feed is only displayed on 1st page of directory.
Content visible to registered users only.

Modify it as you wish.
Hope it helps

awe... thanks guys.

I will be making templates and directories(hahaha Optimit ;) ) as soon as i can get this site down pat.

what you see right now is just the tip of what i have planned. this isn't just going to be a directory, it's going to be an 'everything'.

Honestly, upon first acquiring the script, all I was thinking about was trying to make money etc etc, but now, this has become more than that. It's a 'personal' project of mine. One that I hope will not only become a success, but also have the ability to showcase what phpld and a little bit of creative thinking can do.

I have a very long ways to go, very long :( ..... but in the end, I hope to bring something to the plate that nobody else has, and something that everybody will want.

Your kind words definately drive me, and i thank you for them.

Rob

(this site is currently running on 53 .tpls)
when I do make sites, adding things will be as simple as putting in your code and just calling the including function. (with a million validation errors, i sure as heck have a looonger than expected timeframe to get this thing validated) first things first though. mine ;)

:D thank you VERY much.

to Luffe:

you can write yor own reader. it's really not hard at all. it's the feeds that are a pain in the butt.

i wrote this a few days ago: {test link removed}
just to get started.

there are a lot of modification that need to be done, but if time is taken to really understand everthing you're doing, you can make some very amazing stuff.

I think the words

phpld portal spring to mind.

reminds me of Max Web Portal which is written in ASP, which I used to use quite a lot in my early days.

hahaha Funny you mention this.

Optimit and I were talking on yahoo the other day, and he tells me:
'Rob, you know, they do have FREE CMS's out there.'

We couldn't help but laugh, because i know it does, he knows it does and as neat as i think its coming along, what majority of visitors will think it's a cms, and not actually know it's run off phpld.

I think that's the best kicker of all :)

Yeah

would of been a lot less work integrating phpld into a cms rather then making a cms around phpld.

but wheres the phun in that
