Inserting adsense on v3.3?

I always have this problem.. whatever theme I use, I cannot insert adsense inside php codes... I think I might have done something wrong... now I am using one of devhunter's theme and I cannot make the adsense appear on top and side bar... please help.. please see attached file..mthanks

I have not used that template, but if you go to churchlinks.info and view the source, you can see how I did mine.

But, i know there are some other threads that discuss placing adsense code.

You may have to use "literal" tags to display the data..
You may have to enclose the adsense code with <div id="whateveer you want> </div>

I know how to use "literal" but the thing is, I do not know where or which part of the template/file to place the ads...
