1)
Is making an archive (week, month and year) a feature on Newstopica or will old articles just disappear?

2)
Why do you want to know the domain when I purchase /Newstopica? I mean, if I delete Newstopica after some time and want to use it on another domain, is that ok?

3)
I want to use Newstopcia for different categories and display categorie 1 on mydomain.com/categorie-1/ and display categry 2 on mydomain.com/categorie-2/ etc.
Is that possible?

4)
What is the difference between the $25,- version and the $75,- version. I mean: I mean, in practice people by the 25,- version and delete the hyperlink back to Newstopica out of the footer?

Thanks for your answers!

Luuk

definately possible, and in fact, i do it.

Content visible to registered users only.

$25 = back link left on website.
$75 = remove backlink on website.

Content visible to registered users only.
You're welcome. :D

Hopefully i've answered everything in accordance.

Thanks for expressing an interest in NewsTopica. Here are the answers to your questions:
1) You can keep news as long as you wish, but there is a function in admin where you can delete news older than a certain date, and this function can be run as a cron.
2) Because you are purchasing a license to use it on one domain. If you want to change the domain, all you have to do is notify me.
3) Yes, that will be fine
4) The $25 version means you will keep a link back. Failure to comply could result in legal action, and inability to receive support or upgrades. We are always making improvements, and we have found that people have a genuine desire to support us, so we can keep bringing you upgrades to the software. Hopefully, it would be your desire to be part of this too.

Thanks,
David

Hi David and Rob,

Thanks a lot for your answers!

I only have one further question regarding my first question: does Newstopica support an weekly/monthly/year archive 'out of the box' ? I mean: is it a standard feature?

Thanks again,

Luuk

If you are referring to the calendar feature, it is definitely included "out of the box" as on http://www.newstopica.com/demo2/index.php?c=1

Thanks,
David

I have one site but 15 or so domains point to it? That is still one license, correct?

Is there some sort of software restriction on this? For example I will not run into a problem if a different domain accesses the database such as any one of those 15 domains pointing to the same site or a problem with subdomains such as category1.phplinkdirectory.com, category2.phplinkdirectory.

thx

NewsTopica itself may only be installed once. Upon request, there may be exceptions for:
1) A temporary testing situation
2) A second install on the same domain
But it is appreciated if you will please inform me if you want to do that first.

Accessing the database from a different location is something you can certainly do using a different script, just not a second installation of NewsTopica.

You may also park other domains without that being a problem. It is a problem when you install NewsTopica more than once.

Hopefully, you are thinking about helping our cause in that if it is valuable enough to want to use it on more than one site, you will actually have a desire to help fund the improvement of the script.

It is only one site but I have multiple variations of the same domain name.
For example if someone types in the .net .org .co.uk instead of the .com I would hope it would still work and not be a licensing issue.

I also have other domains that I just point to my main website. So essentially it is all the same content and the site name is listed as the .com once you are there but can be accessed by different domain names.

Content visible to registered users only.

I'm just getting familiar with NewsTopica. Could you please tell me where this function is found? Is NewsTopica supposed to keep the news in an ever increasing datbase? When I Import again/refresh an RSS feed it overwrites the last set of news posts.

Thanks

Yes, you are supposed to be able to keep it as long as you like, and you can delete old news too.

If you don't have 2.01 yet, please PM me.

Thanks
David
