View Full Version : How to manually decide the importance of links? Mod for this?

Hi Everyone!

I would like to myself decide which links to be placed above one another in categories. Is there a Mod which makes it possible for me as the admin to decide on which links to be placed above others in a category?
Will say, I would manually decide myself which links to be displayed before others instead of using alphabetical or order by hits. Does a mod exist for this?

Thanks very much for taking your time and I'm looking forward to your replies!
Sincerely,
Jonas

As far as I am aware, there isn't a mod available to do this, but should be relatively easy to do.

Hi Bruce,

Thanks very much for your reply.

Would it be possible to briefly explain how to make such a setting for the search result?

Thanks very much, I appreciate it.

Sincerely,
Jonas

Basically, the way I would look to doing it to add a field to the PLD_LINK table in the database and pass that through to the form in Admin for you to be able to just enter a numerical value.

You would then need to add that to the 'default sort' order funtion setting in Admin. 3.4 already has a similar function for the categories, so you could probably break that code down and apply it to the links.

If you want it applied to search results too, then it's a bit more involved, but not much (you originally said 'categories').

Thanks for taking the time and explaining. I didn't think about that it would be a different function to make it apply not only to Categories but also to the Search; would it be much more difficult to have a similar function for search results also?
The script above you were nice to make, does it add the function also for search results?

Thanks once again, I don't know how to thank you enough! :)

Sincerely,
Jonas

Yes it does. I looked at that as I put it together.

Great! Thank you very much Bruce! :)

Now PHPLD contains all the functions I'm looking for. As soon as I've purchased my copy of PHPLD I will download and install your script.
Let me know if there's anything I could help you with as thanks for the script.

Thanks once again!

Jonas
